EXCOGITA will apply a reduction in working hours to 35 hours per week from January 1st 2025, with the same salary and other benefits.

We are not aware of other examples of Italian SMEs that have made this choice by reducing the hours of all working days, for this reason we have signed an unprecedented second level contract.

Ours is a beautiful bet, we think that the company must and can give up many working hours by allocating them to its staff. Everyone will be able to dedicate more time to their family and themselves. Feeling better also means improving the quality and performance at work.

On December 16th 2024, a second level contract was signed with all workers that provides for a reduction in weekly working hours of 5 hours for the following twenty-four months, bringing the current 40 hours per week to 35. At the end of the experimental period it can be made permanent. It has been established that the reduction will be on a daily basis, bringing the current 8 hours foreseen for the working week from Monday to Friday established by the CCNL to 7 hours. The monthly salary remains unchanged compared to the tables established by the reference CCNL (metalworking industry) and the accrual of contractual institutes such as 13th month’s salary and TFR will be equal to the calculation foreseen for the monthly salary of the CCNL, without changes, as for the accrual of Holidays and Par which will be re-proportioned on the basis of the new monthly coefficient.

The world of work is increasingly affected by strong changes, smart working and artificial intelligence are changing historical paradigms. Innovation is in our DNA and we intend to do it in this area too, rethinking and experimenting, putting the happiness of each worker at the center, the right of all people not only to dignified and quality work, but also to the enjoyment of free time, to the care of loved ones, of sociality, of civic participation.

We believe that contributing to the improvement of people’s well-being also means increasing productivity and the effectiveness of the hours worked. Furthermore, reducing working hours produces an environmental result, therefore it means moving towards an ecological conversion of the economy. “Working to live and not the other way around”, this principle must mean projecting our production system into a future of greater efficiency, in the face of greater justice, redistribution, freedom and sustainability.

A heartfelt thanks is addressed to the work group that has realized and formalized a unique and ambitious corporate project, thanks to our consultants Dr. Fabio Ludovici and Dr. Valentina Russo, a thank you for the availability of the FIM-CISL union representative Andrea Calzoni.
